Thoughtfully designed mental health care to support your journey, every step of the way.
Thank you for choosing me as the doctor for psychiatric care for yourself or your child. I realize that choosing a psychiatrist is a very important decision that influences your future well-being. I typically interview the child/young teenager (younger teenager <12 years old) together with the parents in the room. Your older teen (>12 years old) will likely be interviewed by me alone after I talk to parents.
Our goal is first and foremost to build a comfortable trusting and patient-doctor relationship.
In my practice, I am working primarily with kids, teenagers, and emerging adults. Focusing on work from a developmental standpoint has helped me to see the inner child in everyone, and if we can understand the inner child, we can help kids grow and develop into a stronger, happier, and more effectively functioning adults.
Growing up with frequent travels and facing the challenge of adopting to new countries and communities sparked my curiosity about the complex dynamics of individual behavior and relationships among people. Through my travels and education, I established a vision of family based on strengths and uniqueness, while also honoring specific needs. I bring that vision to each family with whom I work.
I am a double-board certified psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience in working with younger children, adolescents, adults, and families. My sub-speciality is working with youth who suffer from or are at risk of serious mental health conditions.
During my work at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, I had a unique opportunity to be a part of a treatment team for kids with complex medical conditions and concurrent neurological/neuropsychiatric disorders.
In my private practice, I offer consultations, diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy and treatment for children, adolescents, and adults.
My goal is to use an approach that includes considering psychiatric illness as biological, while strongly recognizing developmental and psychological inputs to treatment.
By understanding the human brain and psycho-social developments and incorporating the latest scientific evidence about how the changing environment affects this development, I provide a plan for returning to a healthy, fulfilling life as well as preventing future relapses.
In addition to my clinical practice, I continue teaching and mentoring child psychiatry fellows at USC/Keck School of Medicine/Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on a volunteer faculty basis.
I continue to be involved in the Institutional Review Committee at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
By completing a psychoanalytic psychotherapy program at the New Center for Psychoanalysis (where I am currently teaching), I added an important tool to my practice, with a strong focus on prevention, early intervention and a deeper understanding of the underlying root cause of ongoing emotional distress.
I also enhanced my education with courses in Integrative Psychiatry and Nutritional Psychiatry at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.
*Please note that my practice is not affiliated with any hospitals or institutions.
